The government conceded and reduced the price of gasoline, but Smarth states this was not a setback for the government because both sides had to concede. However, to reduce Haiti's dependence on foreign aid, government spending must be reduced, and the government needs to invest in the country more.

Le gouvernement a réussi à baisser le prix de la gazoline mais Smarth précise que ce n’est pas un recul, les deux parties ont dû faire des concessions. Il dit que cette concession du gouvernement n’affectera pas le reste du budget du gouvernement. Mais, pour diminuer la dépendance d’Haïti envers l’étranger, les dépenses doivent être réduites et l’état doit investir beaucoup plus dans le pays.
