  • Peruvian economist Hernando de Soto discusses the informal sector in the market economy and the mechanisms of economic and social exclusion. According to de Soto, while the informal sector contains much creativity and entrepreneurial and democratic potential, the poor lack access to property and other resources which prevents them from participating in the economy.
