Max Puig, Secretary of State in charge of administering the European Development Fund for the government of Dominican president Leonel Fernández, discusses the Haitian-Dominican joint commission and trans-border projects. This commission addresses issues of mutual concern, including commercial and industrial relations, tourism, and migration. Jean Dominique asks about Dominican appropriation of Haitian culture (for example, Haitian art), the situation of Haitian university students in the Dominican Republic, Haitian merchants (madan sara) who travel to the Dominican Republic, and other subjects. They also discuss the transition from Joaquín Balaguer to Fernández, the differences between the governments, and anti-Haitian prejudice (antihaitianismo).
Max Puig, Secrétaire d’état chargé d’administrer le Fond Européen de Développement pour le gouvernement dominicain du président Leonel Fernández, discute de la commission mixte haïtiano-dominicaine et de projets transfrontaliers. La commission s’occupe de questions qui concernent les deux parties, comme les rapports commerciaux et industriels, le tourisme et la migration.
