Jean Dominique interviews agronomist Abraham Shepherd and Dr. Antoine Augustin from the Centre d'Analyse et de Politique de Santé (CAPS) about food security in Haiti. Shepherd defines food security. He states that there is enough food in the world to feed everyone, but there must be accessibility, meaning everyone must have the means to purchase food, and that accessibility must be sustainable for the long term. For Haiti to have food security, domestic production must increase to balance the amount of imported food. Augustin explains the importance of food security for CAPS, stating that malnutrition is responsible for a significant portion of infant and child deaths in Haiti.
