Wainright discusses Haitian history, and he discusses the problem of the erosion of arable land. He discusses the positive and negative effects of a road being built to connect the Grand'Anse with other parts of the country. They discuss the problem of waste, especially plastic containers that cannot decompose. Wainright talks about the possibility of starting a recycling program in Haiti. They discuss development and urbanization projects in Port-au-Prince. Dominique asks Wainright how he plans to earn the support of peasants, who often cut down trees in order to make charcoal to sell and support their families, as he addresses the problem of deforestation.
