Chavannes Jean-Baptiste pale sou kontradiksyon ki egziste ant wòl li kòm lidè Mouvman Peyizan Papay, kòm manm Oganizasyon Politik Lavalas, ak kòm konseyè espesyal pou Prezidan René Préval, ak sou kontradiksyon ant opozisyon mouvman Lavalas te konn monte sou "plan lanmò" neyoliberal la ak adopsyon pwogram neyoliberal la. Pafwa, di Jean-Baptiste, ou oblije fè konpwomi. Sepandan, Ayiti pa p janm granmoun tèt li tout bon si pwodiksyon nasyonal kontinye ap depafini, si vant peyi a sou kont zòt. Li mete aksan sou enpòtans desantralizasyon tou.
Chavannes Jean-Baptiste discusses the contradictions of his position as the leader of the Mouvman Peyizan Papay, a member of Organisation Politique Lavalas, and a special adviser to President René Préval, and the contradictions between the Lavalas movement's opposition to neoliberalism and the government's embrace of the neoliberal economic plan. Sometimes, Jean-Baptiste says, you have to make compromises. Still, Haiti will never be truly sovereign if domestic production continues to suffer, if it is dependent on other countries to feed itself. This is why, according to Jean-Baptiste, tariffs are a greater problem than privatization. He also emphasizes the importance of decentralization.
