Jean Dominique fè entèvyou sa ak Jean Maurice Buteau, ki se chèf JMB S.A., yon konpayi ki fè ekspòtasyon mango, ak agwonòm Philippe Mathieu, sou endistri mango a. Buteau di chans pou Ayiti, klima a se klima ki ideyal pou diferan kalite mango yo donnen nan diferan mikwoklima yo, sitou mango fransik, ki se mango yo plis ekspòte. Li eksplike kijan JMB chwazi mango pou yo ekspòte. Li di konsomatè Amerik di Nò yo se ak je yo renmen achte, donk fòk se mango ki pi bèl yo pou yo ekspòte Etazini ak Kanada. Malgre Meksik se yon gwo rival, paske se yo ki pi gwo vandè mango pou Etazini, Buteau di Ayiti ekspòte plis mango pase nenpòt lòt peyi nan tout Amerik la. Yo pale sou difikilite yo jwenn pou transpòte mango nan tout peyi a paske gen zòn ki pa gen bon wout. Lè anbago a, anpil peyi nan Amerik Santral ekspòte mango pa yo bay Etazini, men kantite mango Ayiti ap ekspòte deja depase mango li t ap ekspòte anvan anbago an. Yo pale sou objektif yo pou fè Ayiti pwodwi plis mango ankò pou ekspòtasyon.
Jean Dominique interviews Jean Maurice Buteau, CEO of mango export company JMB S.A., and agronomist Philippe Mathieu, about the mango industry. Buteau explains that Haiti is fortunate enough to be in the perfect climate for different breeds of mango to flourish within its different microclimates, especially Francis mangos, the main export cultivar. He explains how JMB selects mangos to export. He describes North American consumers as visual shoppers, so the appearance of the mangos are taken into account before exporting to the U.S. and Canada. Despite serious competition from Mexico, the main supplier of mangos to the U.S., Buteau states that Haiti exports a greater number of mangos to the U.S. than any other country in the Americas. They discuss challenges to the mango business, including roads to facilitate mango transport from different regions in Haiti. Central American countries have increased their mango exports to the U.S. as a result of the embargo, but Buteau and Mathieu state Haiti is already back to exporting at pre-embargo numbers. They describe their goals to increase mango production for export, and how the mango industry differs from that of other crops, such as coffee.
