Jean Dominique fè entèvyou sa avèk Antoine Augustin, ki se yon sosyològ ki te yon manm kabinè pou Fanmi Lavalas nan 1991, sou yon liv li fèk ekri ki rele Le Mouvement Lavalas en Haïti: Grandeurs et Faiblesses (Mouvman Lavalas la an Ayiti: Grandè ak Feblès). Augustin pale sou poukisa li enpòtan pou yon chèchè ekri kareman sou politik an Ayiti. Li pale sou kondisyon politik, sosyal, ak ekonomik ki te fè pati Lavalas la fòme, epi sou poukisa se mo lavalas la mouvman an te chwazi pou montre chanjman mouvman an te reprezante. Dominique mande si pwojè Lavalas la te deja egziste nan pèp ayisyen an, oubyen si se Jean-Bertrand Aristide ki te kòmanse mouvman an.
Jean Dominique interviews sociologist and former cabinet member of the Lavalas party Dr. Antoine Augustin about his recent book, Le Mouvement Lavalas en Haïti: Grandeurs et Faiblesses (The Lavalas Movement in Haiti: Successes and Weaknesses). Augustin discusses the risks and need for a researcher to write frankly about politics in Haiti. He describes the social, political, and economic conditions that led to the formation of the Lavalas party, and why the name Lavalas (flood) was chosen for the movement to emphasize change and upheaval. Dominique asks if the seeds for the Lavalas movement were planted by the Haitian people or by Jean-Bertrand Aristide, leader of the Lavalas movement.
