François Houtart, prèt ak sosyològ belj, pale sou sosyoloji relijyon avèk Jean Dominique. Houtant te travay sitou nan Sid global la (an patikilye Lazi ak Amerik Latin), kote li mete aksan sou koman krisyanis te ka ankouraje liberasyon sosyal. An Ayiti, yerachi legliz la trè mefyan pa rapò ak vodou (men nan menm tan, rejim Duvalier a te sèvi avèk yerachi legliz katolik ak vodou kòm zouti represyon), men mouvman ti legliz pa gen pwoblèm avèk vodou ak senkretis. Yo pale tou sou rezistans popilè kont ajisteman estriktirèl ak refòm neyoliberal nan Amerik Latin, ak sou kontradiksyon kretyen ki sanse renmen pòv yo men k ap travay pou sistèm neyoliberal la. Nan fen entèvyou a, yo pale sou lavni filosofi maksis ak politik sosyalis aprè Inyon Sovyetik la fin tonbe.
Belgian priest and sociologist François Houtart discusses the sociology of religion with Jean Dominique. Houtart primarily worked in the Global South (particularly Asia and Latin America), focusing on how Christianity could lead to social emanicipation. In Haiti, the Church hierarchy is distrustful of Vodou (at the same time, the Duvalier regime used both the Catholic Church hierarchy and Vodou as tools of repression), while the popular "ti legliz" have no problem with Vodou and syncretism. They discuss popular resistance to structural adjustment and neoliberal reform in Latin America, and the contradictions of Christians who supposedly love the poor but who are advocating neoliberalism. They end by discussing the future of Marxism and socialism after the fall of the Soviet Union.
