  • Fritz Robert Saint Paul, the president of the parliament, discusses with Jean Dominique delays in ratifying the president's choice for prime minister, Rosny Smarth. Saint Paul explains that the chamber of deputies has delayed ratifying Smarth because they formed a committee to review the background of the proposed prime minister. He states this delay is the result of the reviewing process and the fact that they are preparing a report on Smarth, and that the committee will be ready to present the report to the General Assembly tomorrow. They also discuss resolving Haiti's national debt with help from foreign entities. Saint Paul states the Haitian government has to take responsibility for the state of the country before entering debt negotiations with foreign entitites, whose aid will depend on implementing structural adjustment programs and privatization.

Ils ont aussi discuté du rôle du Parlement. Dominique demande comment la Chambre va s’assurer que l’éxecutif réponde aux besoins de la population et s’attaque à la corruption de l’état. Ils discutent aussi de la manière dont l’aide internationale va résoudre la dette nationale d’Haïti. Saint Paul déclare qu’il faut que l’état haïtien prenne ses responsabilités concernant la situation du pays avant de négocier aavec les organisations internationales, parce que l’aide va dépendre du programme d’ajustement structurel et de la privatisation.
