Entretien avec deux membres de Tèt Ansanm au milieu du massacre de Jean Rabel. Les témoins déclarent que les membres de Tèt Ansanm sont allés à La Montagne pour manifester en solidarité avec d’autres paysans opprimés. Avant que la manifestation commence, les membres de Tèt Ansanm ont été attaqués à coup de pierre et de fusils. Quatre personnes ont été touchées, trois d’entre elles ont ensuite disparu. Quand les manifestants ont tenté de s’enfuir, on leur a bloqué le passage et les a mené dans un chemin étroit où ils ont été attaqués à nouveau. Les manifestants ont essayé de quitter la ville de Jean Rabel mais ils ont été massacrés. De nombreux manifestants ont été conduits jusqu’à la prison ou l’hôpital, mais ils n’y étaient pas en sécurité puisque les macoutes y rentraient à l’envi pour menacer les survivants. Les familles des personnes hospitalisées et emprisonnées étaient surveillées, menacées et attaquées. Quand les manifestants ont été relâchés, les agresseurs les attendaient pour les tuer. C’est la raison pour laquelle ces deux membres de Tèt Ansanm parlent à la radio ; ils demandent de l’aide pour pouvoir libérer et sauver les autres survivants. (Entretien réalisé par Michèle Montas)

Interview with two members of Tèt Ansanm amid the ongoing massacre in Jean Rabel. The witnesses state that members of Tèt Ansanm went to La Montagne for a demonstration in solidarity with other oppressed peasants. Before the demonstration began, members of Tèt Ansanm were attacked with rocks and rifles. Four people were shot, three of whom subsequently disappeared. When the demonstrators tried to leave, they were blocked from leaving and herded into a narrow path where they were again attacked. The protestors tried to flee to the town of Jean Rabel, but there they were massacred. Many of the protestors were then taken to the prison or to the hospital, but they were not safe there, as the macoutes entered at will to threaten the survivors. The families of the hospitalized and imprisoned were watched, threatened, and attacked. When the protestors were released, the aggressors were waiting for them, and would kill them then. These two members of Tèt Ansanm have come on the radio to ask for help to liberate and save the survivors. Interview Michèle Montas.
