Interview with Xiao Kaihua

Xiao Kaihua (b. 1929) is a resident of Xuanzhongyu Village, Baiyun Town, Shimen County, Hunan Province. In this interview, Xiao recalls how he survived the Great Famine because he served the production team with his tailoring skills. Xiao also talks about an old man, who passed out because of hunger, and the hungry wild jackals, which came to the village to eat children.

肖开化（1929年生）湖南省石门县白云乡水悬钟峪村村民。在这段口述中，肖老人讲述了自己利裁缝手艺为生产队服务，所以在饥荒年间没有挨饿的故事。肖老人还回忆了该时期村里老人饿死，村外豺狼饿极进村叼小孩的情况。
