王治山1938年出生,是镇医院医生。他常下乡去给群众看病,山路上遇到过狼。他说吃食堂的人得四种病:干瘦病,经闭征,小儿营养不良,黄肿病。原因是食物欠缺,营养不良。得黄肿病的人吃康复散能治好。康复散由麸子(小麦的皮)、黄豆、白砂糖还有苍术(术读“zhu”;一种中药),四种东西研磨成粉。吃食堂搞浮夸风,粮食堆底下埋麦糠石头砖块,上面铺上粮食。群众连稀粥都吃不上。饿死人时要为国家保密。有男人因为饿把自己的妻子杀的吃了。刘少奇的政策很好,但他被毛泽东打倒了。大炼钢铁时宣称钢铁能造农具能造枪炮,能维持中国和世界的和平。
Wang Zhishan (b. 1938) is a resident of Xiangzidian Village, Yinhua Town, Shanyang County, Shangluo City, Shanxi Province. Wang was a doctor at local town hospital. He often paid visits to patients at villages and encountered wolf on mountain road. He said that people had four common sickness because of the famine emaciation, amenorrhea, malnutrition and edema. People with edema were treated with Kangfusan, a power mix of bran, soybean, sugar and a local herb called Cangshu. Public canteen claimed that they had abundant food by placing grain on top and bags with stone and chaff at the bottom. People had only thin congee. Death of starvation was kept as a secret as for national security reasons. A man once killed his wife for food. He said that Liu Shaoqi's policy was good but he was condemned by Mao Zedong. People were told that the backyard furnaces were needed for world peace.
