Interview with Su Meiling

Su Meiling (b.1928) is a resident of Dahebian Village, Dazhuang Town, Shuangbai County, Yunnan Province. She is the interviewer's third grandmother. In this interview, Su remembered experiences during the Land Reform. Labeled as landlord family, all properties were confisticated after registration. Wen Hui's great grandmother was hung up and struggled because she wanted to keep a blanket. Later her family was sent to a run-down residence, left with no bed sheet or pot. Her mother committed suicide by secretly swallowing a gold ring, afraid of being struggled. She herself one time also almost hung herself to death.

苏美玲1928年出生，是云南省双柏县大庄镇大河边村的村民。她是采访人的三奶奶。在这段口述中，苏老人回忆了土改期间的经历。因为是地主家庭，所有财产都登记后被没收了。文慧的曾祖母想多要床被子，却被吊起来批斗。之后被分到破房子住，没有床铺也没有锅。她的母亲害怕被斗，偷偷地把金戒指吞了自杀。她自己有一次也差点上吊。
