Rong Baotang (b. 1926) is a resident of Shaziying Village, Yang Town, Shunyi District, Beijing. In this interview, Rong talks about the life before and after 1949. Instead of receiving formal education, Rong went to Beijing to work as an apprentice when he was 11. Later he went back home and worked for several landlords. In 1947 Rong joined the Communist party's army. During his 5-year army life, Rong participated in many battles and joined the Korean War in 1950. He got injured in 1952 and was demobilized after treatment. Upon arriving home, Rong worked as the production team leader and later was transferred to work in Beijing. Rong also showed his Demobilization Certificate in this interview.
