Liu Guihua (b.1937) is a resident of Shuangjing Village, Shuangjing Town, Xupu County, Huaihua City, Hunan Province. In this interview, Liu remembers life during the Great Famine. She came here as a child bride when she was 14, and got married at 16. When eating at People’s Commune canteen, there was not much to eat,and people ate al kinds of things. She also remembers some people who starved to death then.
刘闺华1937年出生,是湖南省怀化市溆浦县双井镇双井村的村民。在这段口述中,刘老人回忆了大饥荒期间的生活。她14岁时以童养媳的形式嫁过来,16岁的结婚。在吃食堂的时候,没得吃,人们什么都吃。她也记得一些当时饿死的人。
