Interview with Hu Shiqiang

胡仕强1938年出生。58年三年饥荒初期，他搬家到外地合阳，在那里住了三年。他原先的村子里吃食堂，吃不饱，有人出去要饭。他们兄弟三人和父亲搬到山沟里，那里不吃食堂，可以自己开荒种庄稼，没怎么饿着。他父母亲后来都因病去世。

Hu Shiqiang (b.1938) is a resident of Xiangzidian Village, Yinhua Town, Shanyang County, Shangluo City, Shanxi Province. In 1958 when famine just started, he and his two brothers and father moved to a village in the mountain, and stayed there for three years. In his original village, commue canteen was operated and there was not enough food, some people went outside to beg for food. In the mountain village, there was no commune canteen. They utilized wasteland and grew grains there, therefore had enough food for themselves. His parents later died of sickness.
