Interview with Huang Shichang

Huang Shichang (b.1933) is a resident of Dongda Village, Matou Town, Nan’an City, Fujian Province. In this interview, Huang talks about life during the liberation, Land Reform, and the Great Famine. He was sold to Gongzhan village by his father at six years old, and ate all kinds of things during the famine. In order to be able to take breaks while working, he began to smoke. His wife says, even now when he sees chaffs being fed to domestic birds, he would cry due to remembers the tough days in the past.

黄世倡1933出生，是福建省南安市码头镇宫占村的村民。在这段口述中，黄老人讲述了解放，土改，以及大饥荒时期的生活。他在六岁时被父亲卖到了宫占村，饥荒年时什么都吃。为了做工时能休息一会儿他才开始抽烟。他的老伴说，至今看到用糠喂家禽，他还会因为想起以往艰苦的日子而哭泣。
