- Description:
-
Fang Xuezhi was head of the production team head before 1960. He said that the commune canteen started in 1958. There was so little rice that people had to find other things to eat like bran, wild vegetable, and kaolin clay which caused serious constipation. The famine started in 1959, some died of starvation. Things started to get better after 1962.
