Interview with Cheng Wenlan

Cheng Wenlan (b. 1936) is a resident of Liutong Village, Guangdong Province. In this interview, Cheng talks about the hardship during the Great Famine. In 1959 when Cheng was planting green vegetables for the production team, although the work was quite heavy, she at least did not need to worry about food. After getting married in 1960, Cheng moved to Hainan Province with her husband. To making a living, they tapped rubber trees for natural rubber. Compared to the hard work, the salaries they earned were very low. As a result, they always starved and their shabby house was only made of tree branches and other materials.

程文兰1936年出生，是广东省高州市宝光街道办荷木坡管理区留垌村村民。在这段口述中，程老人讲述了大饥荒时的艰苦生活。1959年程老人在生产队种青菜，虽然辛苦但有饭吃。60年结婚以后程老人和丈夫搬到海南，两人当工人，割橡胶树的橡胶，工作辛苦但工资不高，所以经常挨饿，住的房子也只是用树枝等搭出来的。
