00:00:00--Yan Zhongyi (b.1940) is a resident of Xiaoliujiagou Village, Suide County, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. Yan recollects that people ate grass and bark after 1958. They had to labor with swollen bodies. His two kids were so starved that they stole black beans from their father to feed themselves at school. Yan tried his best to let his kids go to school, but they only studied till they turned 18 years old and went into labor afterwards.
延忠毅(1940年生)是陕西省榆林市绥德县小刘家沟村民。延老人回忆了58年以后人们吃草、树皮等,饿得身子浮肿还得完成劳动任务。他的两个孩子也一直挨饿,偷偷带父亲的黑豆去学校吃。老人尽全力让他的孩子读书,但也只能读到18岁,就得去劳动。
00:04:49--Feng Zhuxi (b.1940) is a resident of Liujiahe Village, Suide County, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. Feng recalls that from 1960, people started have les food because although actual harvests were reduced, local officials, reported hugely exaggerated harvests. In the following years, famine continued because of natural disasters and returing debts to Soviet Union. His grandfather was a soilder and experienced less famine in the army.
冯祝喜(1940年出生)是陕西省榆林市绥德县刘家河村村民。刘老人回忆了60年开始,大跃进搞浮夸粮食产量,人们开始饿肚子。后来好多年,因为要向苏联还债和天灾,始终食物短缺。他的爷爷在部队上,饥饿程度稍好。
00:12:20--Feng Shixi (b.1943) is a resident of Liujiahe Village, Suide County, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. Feng recalls that people had to work in the farm when they had little food and were very weak.
冯世喜(1943年生)是榆林市绥德县刘家河村人。冯老人回忆了饥饿无力时还要干农活。
00:13:21--Liu Heming (b. 1945) is a resident of Liujiahe Village, Suide County, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. Liu recollects that after 1958, during the Great Leap Forward, they worked day and night without proper food. As conditions got worse, familier began to make pickled cabbages in spring and ate rice soup. Things were the toughest in 1961, when people were so weak that they fell asleep in the fields.
刘合明(1945年出生)是陕西省榆林市绥德县刘家河村村民。刘老人回忆了58年开始,大跃进期间,日夜不休地工作,却没有好东西吃。后来条件越来越艰苦,春天每家开始腌白菜,喝汤饭。最困难的是61年,人们虚弱得会在田里睡去。
00:17:38--Wang Guihua (b.1943) is a resident of Liujiahe Village, Suide County, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. Wang recalls that she survived the Great Famine because she got help from her own parents.
王桂华(1936年生)是榆林市绥德县刘家河村人。王老人回忆了饥荒时受娘家照顾才没有饿死。
00:19:26--Wang Yingxiong (b.1943) is a resident of Liujiahe Village, Suide County, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. Wang recalls that people had very little food during the Great Famine.
