First volume of six total published. The first volume first published in 1572 and the sixth volume first published in 1617. Braun and Hogenberg collected material throughout the 1560s, often using original drawings by Joris Hoefnagel, with engraving of the plates carried out principally by Hogenberg and Novellanus.
