- Paul Jeffrey (b 1933) was born in New York City. A tenor saxophonist, bandleader, and composer, Jeffrey participated in sessions with Hall Overton. In this oral history, Jeffrey discusses his close professional and personal relationship with Thelonious Monk, touching upon Monk's illnesses, many gigs played in the United States and abroad, and Jeffrey's interactions with other musicians playing for Monk. Jeffrey also talks about Monk's concert series at the Frog and Nightgown club in Raleigh.
