John Wilson was a jazz trumpeter. He participated in several recording sessions with Jimmy Raney and Hall Overton in the mid-1950s and attended jam sessions and rehearsals in the Jazz Loft. In this oral history, Wilson discusses his musical background, his time in the Army during World War II, and his involvement with the loft jazz scene in New York City. Wilson talks about studying at the Manhattan School of Music, playing with the Benny Goodman Band, and his experiences interacting with various people at the Jazz Loft including Jimmy Stevenson and Zoot Sims
