Dave Heath (b 1931) was born in Philadelphia. He began taking pictures in the late 1940s, and by 1959 he was studying photography under W. Eugene Smith in New York. In this oral history, Heath discusses his interactions and experiences with W. Eugene Smith, with whom he took several photography courses. Heath also touches upon his own development as a photographer, his influences, and his life in New York City.
