- Carman Moore (b 1936) was born in Lorrain, OH. In 1958 he graduated from Ohio State University and moved to New York City to study composition with Hall Overton, with whom he became close friends. In this oral history, Moore discusses his early life, development as a musician and his life as a Juilliard student in New York City. In particular, Moore talks about his interactions with Hall Overton—taking lessons at the Jazz Loft, Overton's teaching style, and Overton's continuing influence.
