Class 1 coupons have the value of one unit. The green ink indicates that this was to be used in geographical Zone-B as defined by OPA. Space for the name of the holder and record of transaction is on a center vertical. To the left the numbers on the face of the coupon indicated the period in which the coupon was to be used. Eg. in Period 1 the value of one unit equalled ten gallons. Unit value could vary with each period. Unit value could vary with each period. Coupons on the right of the center vertical had the face value of 1 or 5 gallons and were used for making change. Background paper contains stylized Great Seal and the phrase "U.S. Government Ration" in blue ink.
