Collection includes one ALS dated 10 December 1862, from Ellis to "Ellen." Also included is a small unidentified diary in Welsh, with daily entries from 13 August 1862 to 12 March 1863. The diary is a detailed and colorful portrait of regimental life. The handwriting is the same for both the letter and the diary, and a type-written translation of the diary (included with the collection) notes that on 10 December 1862, the author "took several pictures. I sent one to Miss Ellen Pritchard." The above letter mentions an enclosed picture, although the photograph no longer accompanies the letter.
