Forms part of the Kenneth Willis Clark Collection of Greek Manuscripts (David M. Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library, Duke University)
Tetraevangelion with lectionary calendar; bound out of order, the arrangement is as follows: Mark, Luke, John, Matthew. Because of the rebinding and its having been bound out of order, there are two sets of foliations and one of pagination--the page number appearing only on the recto of the leaf. Lectionary rubrics are within the text of the manuscript. Some of the marginal notations run parallel to the fore edge, reading either head to tail or tail to head. Where the lections begin, a gilt initial letter in the margins gnerally mark the opening words of the pericope. A later hand has added some rubrics in a very red ink.
Published: [between 1200 and 1300]
Binding: Modern binding of a quarter bound blue morocco, raised cords, with linen sides.
Format: Manuscript codex.
Title supplied by cataloger.
Layout: Written in 1 column of 21-28 lines; ruled; only the corners of the writing space pricked (pricking was done with a triangular shaped point from the hair side.)
Script: Small regular vertical hand, pendant, written in a reddish black ink, mixture of uncials and cursives; Eusebian numbers.
Decoration: The text is decorated with little variety in penwork ornament. There are two evangelists' portraits (Matthew and Mark), of which the latter is especially badly flaked, with little of the portrait remaining. Ornamental headpieces have been provided for each of the openings of the Gospels. Headpieces, titles and initials have been washed with gilt.
Title cataloged from existing description.
