- Title:
- William H. Willimon - "Good Sex" (October 6, 1985)
- Description:
-
Sermon start time: (Part 1) 23:58. Sermon end time: (Part 1) 44:34.
Nowadays, it seems that the human sexes have become synonymous with couples fighting for subordination and superiority; the divorce rate (or separation of relationship) keeps increasing. Jesus says it was not so in the beginning. Going back to the Genesis story where God first created Adam and Eve, the preacher says how sin has made the gift of sex bad. He creatively points out that before Eve was created, sex was not there, and the creature Adam was neither male nor female. The creation of sexuality was not meant for separation or male supremacy, but a mark of oneness and unity, playful companionship and innocent communion. Sex is the completion of earthling human creation. The sermon calls for a return to God’s intent for sex. (Abstract created by Duke Divinity School staff.)
