- Title:
- William H. Willimon - "Graciousness and Grumbling" (September 23, 1984)
- Description:
-
Sermon start time: (Part 1) 31:25. Sermon end time: (Part 2) 7:15.
Compared to other gospels, Matthew is more concerned with rules, yet he offers the story of vineyard workers who begin working at different hours and get the same pay. The preacher argues that this parable demonstrates that salvation is not cheap-grace, but free-grace. He also critiques those who rely on good work to earn salvation, likening it to grumbling at God’s generosity. (Abstract created by Duke Divinity School staff.)
