Man | Greeting spaces this earth. | 0:03 |
This place whose rivers wander and roll to the seas, | 0:07
whose valleys sound and resound with great silences, | 0:12
whose mountains are the mountains rejoicing, | 0:19
whose hills are the hills of hope. | 0:23
It is You, oh Holy one, | 0:27
who awakens us and gives us this day, | 0:30
this season, this moment | 0:32
and we are thankful. | 0:37
Come to our prayers, great Lord. | 0:42
That in them, we may speak boldly | 0:46
for the needs of one another. | 0:48
That we may seek Your presence and Your strength, | 0:52
the mending and renewal of this bent world. | 0:54
Make of us this day a congregation, | 1:00
a congregation whose very size, public and private, | 1:04
are for our own lives to heal | 1:10
together in love | 1:14 | |
to give hope | 1:17 | |
and keep us as a people open to all the varied weathers | 1:19
that brood in the human heart and soul. | 1:23
That in us, by Your grace, | 1:29
the lost and the lonely | 1:33
and the fearful may find solace and clarity | 1:37
and new beginnings. | 1:43
We pray for all who are tossed about | 1:47
and helpless in the world, | 1:50
the victims of war and catastrophe | 1:53
whose lives have been scored by the loss of those they love. | 1:56
We pray for the pleasure-seekers | 2:01
who are captive to their own appetites, | 2:04
for the mentally ill who anguish and fear | 2:08
and whose anguish and fear are inescapable | 2:14
whether they are waking or sleeping. | 2:17
We pray for the poor and impoverished | 2:20
whose powers and labor are exploited by the rich. | 2:23
Help of the helpless. | 2:29
Do abide with them, | 2:32
giving them comfort by Your love. | 2:35
And with Your anger quickening the hearts of those | 2:38
who can change the conditions of life. | 2:41
Oh Lord, our God, | 2:48 | |
who speaks Your Word with power | 2:50
in the person of Jesus, | 2:52
grant to Your church the power to speak Your Word | 2:56
faithfully through its life | 2:59
as well as its doctrine. | 3:02
Let it be Your instrument of holy discontent | 3:05
wherever the world is shoddy, | 3:09
unjust, or callous against Your mercy. | 3:13
Make of it a herald of Your kingdom, | 3:18
speaking from the authority of Your promise | 3:21
that Your Word, having gone forth with power, | 3:24
will not return empty to You. | 3:29
May Your church be a haven for the lonely, | 3:33
a sanctuary for the oppressed, | 3:37
a servant at all times, both of Your truth, | 3:40
and of Your covenant. | 3:44
Through Jesus the Christ, | 3:47
the rock on which we stand redeemed, | 3:50
and who teaches us His community of faith this prayer. | 3:53
Our Father, who art in heaven, | 4:00
hallowed by Thy name. | 4:03
Thy kingdom come. | 4:06 | |
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. | 4:08
Give us this day our daily bread. | 4:13
Forgive our trespasses | 4:16
as we forgive those who trespass against us. | 4:18
Lead us not into temptation | 4:22
but deliver us from evil. | 4:25
For Thine is the kingdom | 4:27
and the power and the glory forever. | 4:29
Amen. | 4:33 | |

doing justice and bringing to this earth Your kingdom. | 10:35

may these be with you this day and forever. | 14:20
