About the Digital Collection
Two letters to "Old Man," from a Mrs. Caudle, detailing her trip to a courthouse auction at Lawrenceburg, Tenn., to bid for a white child who is apparently the illegitimate offspring of the family. There is discussion of what to do with the child as well as various family members' reactions.
