About the Digital Collection
On July 24, 1805, Frederic North, Governor of Ceylon, responded to de Carro's inquiries and noted Jonville, Barnard, and Thomas Christie, physician who introduced vaccination into Ceylon. The manuscript contains a signed, autograph note by Carro dated 1841 in which he stated that Christie was his correspondent about vaccination in Ceylon.
