John Burroughs papers

About the Digital Collection

Collection consists of an autograph copy, signed in pencil, of notes for "The Friendly Rocks," as well as a letter, poem, photograph, and volume. Burroughs wrote the letter to Mary Hoyt Freligh (year unknown) concerning his friend, William Vanamee. The poem is titled "Waiting," and was printed in Knickerbocker's magazine in 1863. The photograph is a portrait of Burroughs. The volume is a Guardian and Administration book kept in Jefferson Co., Arkansas, which has accounts of six people for which Burroughs was apparently an administrator.
