Page with the lyrics of two hymns printed in Mantova by the Comunist Party and sold for 2 liras in benefit of the communist press. The Internationale" (Internazionale) is a widely-sung Left-wing anthem. It has been one of the most recognizable and popular songs of the socialist movement since the late 19th century. The author of the anthem's lyrics is Eugène Pottier. The Internationale has been celebrated by Socialists, Communists, Anarchists, Democratic Socialists, and Social Democrats. It was also used by Republicans during the Spanish Civil War. The Hymn of May Day (L'Inno del Primo Maggio, ) also called Come May is an anarchist and socialist song, written by Pietro Gori on the melody of Va 'pensiero, the chorus of Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi.
