Thanks of the House of Lords, and of the House of Commons, to the Local Militia, Volunteers during the War.

Circular letter from the Honorable Archibald Fraser or Lovat, Commandant of the 1st Inverness Local Militia, communicating to the Members of that Corps, the thanks of both Houses of Parliament for their meritorious conduct during the War. The War they are referring too are Napoleonic Wars between Britain and Franc,which lasted, with two brief intervals, from 1793 to 1815, and that not only caused a dramatic increase in auxiliary forces raised for internal defense but also led the creation of a Scottish Militia and the formation of numerous Volunteer Corps.
