This stone is erected to the memory of the Honourable A.C. Fraser, Lord of Beaufort, Abertarf, and Loveth.

Transcription of the text that is engraved in the gravestone of Colonel the Hon. Archibald Campbell Fraser of Lovat, (1736–1815) was British consul at Tripoli and Algiers, and later colonel 1st Inverness local militia. Upon the death of his brother, Simon Fraser, Archibald assumed the Chiefship of Clan Fraser of Lovat,and replaced his brother as Member of Parliament for Inverness-shire, which he represented in succeeding parliaments down to 1796. Fraser, who is described as a typical gentleman of the old school, but very eccentric, some years before his death put up a monument to himself setting forth his public services. This could be the text written by him, with no date of death. In the actual stone the date of death is Dec. 8th, 1815. The stone is placed in the East Wall of the Wardlaw mausoleum, in Kirkhill, 8 miles west of Inverness. It was built in 1634 as the burial place for the Lovat Frasers.
