Letter from the owner of Beaufort Castle, to the heir of the castle, informing him, as legally required, of some works that will be done in the property, building and estate, for example provide a new roof, repair the family burying place, etc. All the expenses will be recorded in the Sheriff Court books of Inverness. Beaufort Castle is located near Beauly, in Inverness-shire. There has been a castle on the site since the 12th century. Beaufort is the traditional seat of the Lords Lovat. The writer of the letter is probably Archibald Campbell Fraser of Lovat (1736–1815), and the heir was Thomas Fraser of Strichen,_12th_Lord_Lovat (1802–1875).
