Correspondence concerning the poverty and unsettled conditions in Virginia during 1867-1868. Includes description of Bradley's brother-in-law, George Peake, sending his daughter Fannie to Bradley's home as governess for Bradley's children. Also contains an 1868 letter describing difficulties with African American servants, including Bradley's anger over a neighbor attempting to lure his servant, Martha, into better employment.
