Summary: Warrant issued "whereas Clayton Coleman of county of Caroline is desorous [sic] to have his negro man slave Walker confined in the public jail of said county and whereas the General Assembly of Virginia have by an act passed on the 25th day of February 1824 given authority to any justice of the peace of the county in which the owner of a slave may live to grant a warrant to the jailer of said county authorizing him to receive such slave into his custody and to confine him in said jail".
