Summary: Consists of 5 sale bonds issued by S.R. Tolle, the sheriff of Barren County, Kentucky to D.B. Denton, Charles Denton, Alex J. Wood, and D.W. Hodge related to their purchases and re-enslavement of Stephen, George, Sherrod, Charles, and Lewis, who emancipated themselves from slavery. D.B. Denton re-enslaved Stephen on March 16, 1863 and Lewis on May 18, 1863; Charles Denton re-enslaved George on April 20, 1865; Alex J. Wood re-enslaved Sherrod on April 20, 1863; D.W. Hodge re-enslaved Chrles on May 18, 1863. Charles Denton and D.B. Denton acted as sureties on multiple sale bonds; Thos. S. Walton acted as a surety for Alex J. Hood. "Fin. P" dated "8th Augt 1864" sale bond versos.
