Summary: Ship manifest for the schooner DeKalb, which transported four enslaved persons, Sophia, Kitty, and Harriett and her "infant daughter Elizabeth" from Baltimore, Maryland to Savannah, Georgia on June 29th, 1835. Page [1] testifies that Richard Cross, "jr. agent of J. H. Willis, owner" and Samuel Travers, "master of the schooner DeKalb do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear, each of us, to the best of our knowledge and belief, that the negroes have not been imported in the United States since the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and eight; and that under the laws of the state of Maryland, held to service or labor as slaves, and are not entitled to freedom under these laws, at a certain time, and after a known period of service." James H. McCulloch, "collector of the district of Baltimore" also certifies that Cross and Travers made oath that they did not import enslaved persons into the United States. Sophia, Kitty, and Harriett are named on page [2], alongside their sex, ages (14, 15, and 21, respectively), height, and whether they're "negro, mulatto, or persons of color". Harriett's infant daughter Elizabeth is listed under her mother's name but is excluded from the manifest count.
