  • Collection comprises a photograph album featuring 25 silver gelatin images taken while Poole was aboard the S.S. King-Wo during a trip to Chungking, according to a family history he wrote. All the photographs are captioned. There are images of the Qintan and Xietan rapids; river settlements, including Chung-Chou, Yung-Yang, Kwei-Fu, and Shih-Pai-Cha; boats, steamers, and other watercraft, some stranded; a pagoda; Goose-tail rock; and the Horse Lung and Windbox gorges.

  • Herbert Armstrong Poole (1877-1965) was an American employee of Standard Oil Company, member of Marketing Board, and was stationed in Shanghai.
