- We really had the potential to have done this right from the start had the administration. If these are going to be military commissions. They should have turned it over to the military as a mission, assign it to Southern Commander who, you know who runs is responsible for Guantanamo. Turn it over to the military, make it a military mission and let's get it done and get it done right. But you had it too many. We used to joke about refer to him as the big brains. You know, the John Hughes and the David Addingtons, who you know, and the Jim Haynes that didn't know anything about litigation, didn't know anything about the military but they were the, you know, the Svengalis. that we're gonna run this process. And we're sitting here in June of 2010 and nothing much has happened. So it's unfortunate that the things have ended up this way. And to me, extraordinarily disappointing that the current administration who campaigned on their respect for the rule of law and justice and what a travesty military commissions in Guantanamo had been have suddenly flip-flopped and have become the third term of the Bush Administration, at least with respect to national security and detainees and Gitmo.
