- Shortly after the Oscars, I was asked by an interviewer in Los Angeles, where I was born, and I says, "I was born in an Indian birch bark canoe on the shores of Lake Winnipeg." My wife says, "no you weren't." Well, I says, "well, I was born in an Indian birch bark canoe on the shores of Lake Nosbonsing, up near North Bay." She says, "you were not." I said, "well how was I supposed to know, the sun was in my eyes?"
