- There was two suicide incidences I think that took place while I was down there. I didn't necessarily see them, I was on the block when it happened but you hear it over the radio, you hear everybody respond. There wasn't a successful suicide nor do I ever think there will be a successful suicide. When I was there, we were walking up and down the block every five minutes. You know, there's always somebody within 10 to 30 feet of a cell. And other detainees obviously, aren't gonna stand by and let the brother, you know, commit suicide. If they see somebody trying to commit suicide they're gonna start screaming and shouting and yelling, as soon as they do, we're gonna respond. So I don't think a suicide can take place in Guantanamo. I know it's happened, I don't think it can be a suicide. Interviewer: You're saying that the five suicides that the government- - Claims to be suicides, I do not believe it would be suicides. I simply just can't fathom the possibility of a suicide taking place. There's entirely too many individuals. There's entirely too much monitoring going on. There's too much hands-on viewing of detainees all the time. They don't have privacy even when they're in the shower, they're still being watched.
